Hi guys, this is my first post here so please be gentle.
I’m quite new to Golf’s, I bought my first one about 3 months ago then the oil pump failed while I was doing about 60, the rest explains itself!
I had this great idea, why not scrap the slightly breathless 8v engine in my mk3 and put in the 16v kr engine from a mk2.
But now I am having so much trouble getting parts it stupid, I picked up the engine cheep on ebay and plan to re-build it but I cant get hold of oversize pistons any ware!
I must have called 30+ companies and most of them said they just couldn’t get them, and the few that could want around £150 per piston!
I was looking on an American website and they have them for a very reasonable price but only for a 1.8 PL engine, does anyone know if these will fit. They didn’t even list a kr engine so I wasn’t sure if the codes are different over there.
It doesn’t give much information on the piston only that it is 2nd oversize (81.5mm) for a 1988 1.8 golf GL engine code PL, part number: 026107081R
Surely the blocks must be the same, it’s the right size and same year, and 81.5mm is what I am after, but someone here must know if there may be any differences. I don’t fancy paying out £600 + vat just for the pistons!
Any help is welcomed.

search for tsr on google, they are 400 for 1.8 turbo pistons so shouldn't be much difference on the mk2
