Ok , first off I love my ED30 , so dont think all my posts are negative lol
Now the car is run in , its patently obvious that in the damp , the deployment of the horses is somewhat 'problematic'
Wheel hop , even when you try and drive around it , is pretty violent.
Now I know I should be a hooligan , but sometimes ........
ESP on or off its the same , prob better with it off though.
So , has anyone made any additions to improve this?
Or is it more a combination of such good geometry and good tyres that actually causes it?
(normally its a sign of knackered dampers etc ....)
what I look for is controlled wheelspin if it does happen.
Not the painful sound of 'hopping'
initial thoughts are
1. dog bone mount upgrade + maybe others too
2. Suspensions mods to increase neg camber
and yes , I know I can just 'lift off' , so no obvious replies

Only ones really worth it are coilovers.
Alternatively there is the extreme of an LSD.
I'm assuming that you mean Axle tramp by wheel hop :undecided:
-
Engine damper will cure that, but you will feel the effects in the cabin
-
Hurdy:
thought axle tramp referred to RWD ?
but yes its that 'effect'
LSD oh yeah baby but not for now!
Komenda : are you talking about replacements for the OE mounts or an additional damper?
and Hurdy have you sought help for your PS addiction yet? , covers up the slow coloured car I guess
Thanks
John

An additional Damper directly connected to the chassis. Its not as severe as changing the engine mounts but does a good job of stopping the engine twisting under hard acceleration.
This is the one I had on my Civic

What tyres do you have fitted?
-
My Current ones are Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. Good tyres in the wet. Summer wheels I usually go for Toyo Proxes.
I see where you're going though, I had Bridgestones and they seemed to be the worst for wheel hop.

How do you find them "overall" (the Vredsteins) ?
-
Really good tyre. Noticably less road noise than the Conti's and no tyre squeel under hard cornering which I used to have with the conti's too. Dry grip is good but the Proxes are better. I think this is due to a combination of the lower profile and bigger wheel size of the Toyo's. Best wet weather tyre I've had and compared to the major manufacturers they are well priced, think I paid £75 each for 225/45/17

I've fitted the ECS dogbone insert which really helps, on my mapped GTi(265bhp) it virtually eliminated it, but on the mapped ED30(298bhp)it struggles to stop it completely but really does help alot.
-
i had a powerflex dog bone mount in my MK4 GTi and it cured it but the cabin vibration was a pain.
now there was another option and that was to upgrade to the mk4 R32 mount, could this be done with the mk5 R32 mount or are they dif?
what the ECS like any unwelcome vibrations?
-
No noticeable difference with the ECS insert pal.
-
....I've got the Neuspeed Torque Insert and KoniFSD's with Eibach Pro-Kit and ARB's, but on my GTI, 250 neddies still slip too easily when the road is damp/greasy. I'm on Eagle F1's. I'm looking into the Quaife ATB (LSD) but it might compromise smoothness - some say it's aggressive.

Anyone any idea how to prevent this with DSG? Anything I can change?
