I have NEVER had an easy time with any allen bolts on my Golf - so far I've tried to tackle the alternator and the front disc bolts, all stuck fast and ended up going to a garage to get changed
I'm currently trying to do the rear discs, I've got a new allen key set that will fit on my socket wrench so I have a good tight purchase on it, I've also liberally applied WD40 to the area. Still it wont move, has anyone got any suggestions??

wack a socket over the whole bolt. Works for me.
If not then get some heat on those bad boys :cool:

use an impact wrench and more wd40! it will come out i promise

Buy some "shock and unlock" from Halfords. Amazingly a halfords own product that actually works!

Cheers people, I got some things to try now! Going to work now, but I think it shall be an oily fingers weekend!
I've got an impact wrench but there's simply no way to get any swing on a hammer with the bolt I'm trying to attack.

I really recomend you pick up a can of this stuff. WD40 is not really the best stuff for stuck bolts, it's best for squeeking hinges!

You might find this stuff hard to come by, as i have never seen it at any of the stores i have been working at. However, there are two other things to try, one is called freeze release by loctite and the other is a penetrant spray can't remember who it is made by. They are both in the additives section, i.e. where the redex and all that sh!t is.
Instead of using a hammer on the wrench, just stick the wheels on full lock and then get an 24" breaker bar on there and they should come off no worries. :cool:

scaffold bar on the end of the wrench, stand on the end, will come undone i promise you, unless you weigh nothing...

youll sheer the bolt head off using a bl00dy scaffy bar!
Heat is you best bet, ask a plumber of you can borrow his blow torch.

pffft dont worry yourself about sheering the head offf!!! sheesh!
get a bar on it!!! messing about with a heat gun or blow torch for 15 mins, or a 2 second job witha bar!

I'm definitely one to recommended heat. I've sheared 7 bolts/studs today, not even using excessive leverage.

what are you guys trying to undo? i work on 30/40 year old cars and i think ive sheered off about 2 bolts in the last 6 months :huh:
