Start car again and now I have the emission light on as well.....both stay lit and arent flashing....rang dealer hoping I can call past and get it checked, but as usual it "too busy, you'll have to book it in next week" ...has anyone had these lights on before..was it serious?

Time to get your car in for a reflash on the ECU

oh, we'll see what they say on Tuesday....but to be honest I'm getting fed up with this car and it's rubbish warning lights...I've had this car from new and it's been treated with kid cloves...but I'm sick and tired of having to take it in with warning lights showing to be told "doesnt seem to be any reason why it came on...we've reset it" ..grrrr
The GTI is a nice car....but I'll be very glad to get rid of it when I do and hopefully get something a little more solid...the impreza turbo I had before this never went wrong once in the 4 1/2 years I had it...great car.

Take it into another VW dealer who can update the ECU properly because i think your current ones are monkeys !

oh, there isnt too much choice over here in NI ....I've been to 3 different ones. No1 damaged 3 wheels replacing the center caps...No2 damaged the center console trying to cure one of the many rattles (never did fix it) and No3 didnt tighten the brake master cyclinder cap properly after the brake fluid service so it leaked.....it;s been the worst car I've owned in terms of reliability..which is a pity as when it's all working fine it's a nice place to be

I had exhaust gas lamp lighting up last week. Fixed it yesterday in 2 minutes, they used their PC to switch it of, and said it was something like petrol mix and ECU... no problem. If it comes on again - then I'd have to leave the car in the shop, they said.

maybe you wanted to say the worst service in terms or reliability.
