just realised there is no o ring on my dipstick.
would this be causing any of my bad idleing, and car turn off problems?
thanks in advance for reply
-
Not sure it would cause it but would certainly add to it.

thanks Nick.
Will be getting one 2day, i had no idea it was missing.

just read your other post.
No..Mine does not have a O ring.
When i pull the dipstick out it does change idle. What happens to yours exactly?
might be worth looking at your vacume hoses. Take a look at the air breather on the rocker cover. The rubber bung that sits between the two might be split.
The accelorator cable can rub on the rubber inlet hose and cause it to split

mine is idling rubbish anyway so i cant tell the diffrence when i pull out the dipstick, can someone give me the actual location of the vacuum hoses, as they are all over the place. replaced a couple warnt ones yesterday near the throttle body and today same old problems.....can some one show me pictures of the vacuum hoses or diagram of all there locations?
thanks

The effect the missing o ring, if fitted, would be minimal unless you have a serious engine issue which is causing crankcase compression. The injection system breaths through the engine breathing system anyway, but that is only to cut your emissions by burning off the crankcase vapours. The o ring would be more to keep the dipstick in more than anything else and prevent a weep of oil.

no orings as std, if your stick is a loose fit into your hole, you need to get another hole. Same goes for the dipstick
