on old turbo cars u were ment to leave the car running for a while before u turned it off should i do the same with my golf might sound silly but just a thought
-
Its not a case of it being on old turbos, its a case on turbos which use high pressure.
If you have gone for a healthy drive I would leave it on for a few minutes to let it cool down, but if you are driving normaly, I wouldnt. There is however no harm in leaving it even for about 30 seconds.

cheers m8 it was just 1 of those things that poped into my head jeard some 1 talking bout ages ago

yeah best bet to let it run for a few minutes even on a modern car, as it lets the oil in the turbo cool down
-
in any turbo'd car you should , it prevents damage happening to the turbo cause when you have caned it an then stop the poor little ko3 is still spinnin its ass off so cuttin the ignition also cuts the oil feed so your turbo is runnin dry , bit of technical knoledge for you all on a sunday :0)

lol nice 1 i thought this might be the case is it worth getting a turbo timer i think there called of is this goin a bit over board lol im just lazy lol
-
No real need for a turbo timer. I drive mine like a lunatic all the way home from work, then on the last mile i drive like a grandad (usually have to due to traffic anyway) and just sit listening to the radio for about a minute before I shut the engine off after parking up.
