The rectangles are filters or crossovers, and are to prevent low frequencies going to the tweeter and frying it.

do all tweeters have these just not all of them show it in the pics? or is it just the better ones that need/are supplied with them?
Thanks bud

The cheaper ones probably just have a protection capacitor built in to the wiring, or soldered directly to the connections on the back.
You'd be better off going for a decent set of comps with proper passive crossovers. At least then the drivers will be level matched, and sound good together.

nah i havent got anywhere to put comps yet so was just gonna put some tweeters in the dash. Most of my sounds gonna be at the back and just want something easy to fit in the front

u want ur sound at the front, thats where u are so u want it around u, in the back it will sound distant and unbalanced

^^^ Exactly what that fella said.
The front is where you should concentrate your efforts and money.
13cm components, mid in the door, tweeter on the mirror back or in the dash locations. Nice amp to drive them, job done.
