Hiya people, wot do u think of the gttdi??? think i am getting 1 early next year
Let me know plz:
-
Oh dear........ right spell properly
Everyone who owns one will proberly like them. have you test driven one ?
I like mine that much im looking for an anniversary tdi
-
the main advantage of the GT TDI is the running costs
the main disadvantage is the cost of the car - but the savings on fuel offset this
based on the paper mpgs i've created this savings table this shows how much you would save in a GT TDI 150 against a GTI 1.8T 150
Mileage | Saving £ |
10000 | 388.9827363 |
11000 | 427.8810099 |
12000 | 466.7792835 |
13000 | 505.6775571 |
14000 | 544.5758308 |
15000 | 583.4741044 |
16000 | 622.372378 |
17000 | 661.2706516 |
18000 | 700.1689253 |
19000 | 739.0671989 |
20000 | 777.9654725 |
this is based on the petrol being 101.9 a L and diesel being 106.9 a L
engine wise the TDI's have a better reputation than the petrol except they aren't as tunable expect 260 bhp tops from a 150 where as the 1.8T can go to 400 bhp, however in real life you want torque and as standard the TDI 150 has more than a boxster a clio V6 and will go from 40-60 faster than a type R
service intervals are the same at every 10K except the oil in the PD engine is more expensive that the petrol stuff.
if i was looking at buying a MK4 then unless you want to tune it go for the TDI 150 same spec as the GTI 1.8T 150 and almost identical performance. except you can go for pretty much double the distance on a tank.

I looked into a gti 2.0 before geting a tdi.
Cons for me is amazing mpg and lots of toque. There great cars quick and good mpg.
-
Pros - everything
Cons - nothing

whats your budget as that will determine what engine you get
-
me budget is a around 6k m8 or less.
-
I took a few of my mates into town last night, one has an S3 one with a clio v6 mk2 and one with the new corsa vxr and there face was amazed when i lit up the front wheels
Oh yes its a denzil

probably pick up a highish mileage GT TDI 130 or 115 for that sort of money.
-
The only cons that spring to mind are they cost more to service and require it at more frequent invetervals. They are more expensive in purchase in the first place and they sound like a London cab.
Pros are that they have great pulling power and can be run on a fraction of the cost of a 1.8T (petrol wise).

Have you consisdered a fabia Vrs? for your £6000 next year you could probably pick up a 53 plate with reasonable milage. Again they share the 130/230 lbs PD TDi Vag group engine, 6 speed & built onto a Polo chassis so pretty quick in standard form. I run a 55 plate version which has been mapped to approx 160/275 lbs, pulls like the devil
Cheap group 9 ins so friendly on the pocket too, SKODA, the joke is over!!!!!

i doubt you'll be able to pick one up for that sort of money, i considered getting a VRS myself but was able to get a lot lot more golf for the money
-
There is a black magic 04 plate Vrs on pistonheads for that kind of money with reasonable miles
-
I realllllly realllllly want to like the new Skodas, but I just wouldn´t be able to bring myself to get one.
Im sucha cvnt lol
