Title: got a bit of a knock

rite i just been out in my car its a little slippery out there lol anyway i pulled away from a jct and got a little rite foot happy it started to spin passenger but as it did there was a bit of a orrible knockin any ideas

Sounds like the traction control kicking in. Did the TC indicator flash up on the dashboard (Little exclamation mark in a circular arrow, orange light, in the speedo)?

not that i noticed m8 i was lookin for it to but if i hadnt let off it would have carried on if that makes sense it was in a straight line too not goin round a corner

Its your dog bone mount. It's probably okay, the knocking only really happens when you're caught off-guard and spin the wheels. You can buy an uprated one though.

topher cheers m8 but wat is a dog bone mount we used to call them drive shafts on the old rc cars also were would be best place to get 1 thanks

its the central mount that goes from the under side of your gear box to the sub frame, i replaced mine not long back its a 5 minute job

ye just had it on the ramps and theres a bit of play in it so would u say it needs replacing also were did u get ur replacement and how much thanks

you can get uprated ones from places like EIP tuning but most people buy Powerflex dog bone bushes and replace the OEM bushes.

alternatively i think the R32 dog done mount is uprated so you could buy that:

Part number is 1J0 199 851 AM, and price is about £63 with the VAT I think; i've got the bushes to try out but will only be swapping out the smaller of the two

ok thanks for the info think ill drive it nicley for a while till after crimbo and get it all done then i heard if u put uprated 1s in u get a bit of vibration thru the car ???

initially yes but they do bed in after a few hundred miles.  You're more prone to vibration in TDI's hence why I've put off fitting mine  :undecided:
