you need 3 leds (with resistor attatched), i bought a set of leds from ebay
(T5/BS.30 LED INSTRUMENT CLUSTER & GAUGE ILLUMINATION BULB),

They didnt quite go in as direct replacements, but i soldered 2 legs onto each led & just soldered them onto the membrane of the clocks.

you can just snap out (carefully) the old bulbs, solder in the new ones onto the existing contacts (watch the polarity though +/- )

, ive re-done all the interior lights in my mkII to blue

there are 2 at the top, above the speedo & rev counter and one behind the led clock.......

now i fitted a blue one behind the clock but its a bit dark, i would suggest a white LED for the LCD clock to give it maximum illumination, (i read somewhere that the green filter can be removed from the LCD but i wouldnt suggest it, i had a quick look at it, i was an electronics service engineer, & it looks far too painstaking)

also there was a green filter strip that runs along the top of the housing (as the original lights are just white glass bulbs)

, i carefully removed it with long nose pliers,

may change them oneday for the reds myself......now i know how to do it
