I've got an (almost) broken red wire from the alternator, which is meaning that I can't get enough charge to the battery.
However I tried to remove the nut holding the wire in, but instead the post is rotating instead.
Any ideas how I can get the nut off?

WD40, failing that Heat it up?
Last resort crind the nut off and replace it, be careful to not damage the thread on the bolt, try cutting the nut with a junior hacksaw will take a while but should work. I'd cut it in 2 places so you end up with 2 halves...

yea my dad took a blow torch to a bolt in my engine :laugh: was the one where you adjust the fan belt tension. Worked well as it was ceased on :sad:

either that or go and get a nut splitter, then just crack it off. so to speak.

A good idea in theory but I can't help but think that taking a blow torch to your alternator wiring is going to cause extra problems in the long run.

I wasn't meaning a blow torch... Fire... extreme heat... alternator... hmmmmm :undecided:

Are you sure its the alternator mate? The alt usually doesn't have a screw post on it - its a crimp terminal, the starter solenoid has a copper bolt on it which is prone to seizing - and as a result will rotate - eventually making the car a pain in the ass to start.
Looking into the engine bay (from front), the alt is on the left, starter on the right.

Yep, def the alt, have tried all day to sort out, no luck, going to the garage tomorrow, let them deal with it.
