Title: How much for 40mm lowering springs (only springs)
Post by: Dec on 18 November 2007, 14:31
How much would you expect to pay for some of these?

I found a set of 40mm springs for about £60 on the bay and was wondering if that was an okish price?

Cheers

Try:

Koni kit half way down the page

And if your budget can stretch, Eibachs!

iv been watching this thread as its one of the things im hoping to do to my car,

rowlers, you say that you have been through a few sets, how long did they last? and what do you guys generally refer to as "cheap" springs?

will i be ok just changing my springs or is it essential to change the dampers aswell?

Cheers

I know someone with an MK3 who changed the springs well over a year ago to some 40mm drop ones that were under £100. The Koni ones will be ok for me to start with im sure.

I know someone who had an escort van and cut the original springs to lower it... Im sure if he managed for a year with those, the Koni's will be 10x safer and better

I think i may do the same, however im half tempted to save for something a little more such as these or similar? http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/store/product.php?xProd=3568&xSec=124 somewhere around the 150-200 mark?

Id love to see a b4 and after picture from some1 after a 40mm drop

Cheap springs are a no-go as far as I'm concerned. They'll mess up the handling and I've heard some horror stories of cheap springs.
Spend as much as your budget will allow on a reputable manufacturer such as Koni who I've heard nothing but good things about.
Eibach too
