Hi everyone new to the forum, but im sure you will see a bit of me :wink: .
My question is is that i have come across a set of 17" bbs rims with tires for a very good price, £90 to be precise. They have rather heavy curb scrapes around all the rims and a few minor scratches on the face of the wheel. Does any one know a very good/resonably priced place that i can get these wheels put back to there original beauty??
And cost wise would it work out worth it?

where are you based and what model of bbs are they?
you should be able to get them professionally restored for about 200 quid...
i'd say that for only 90 notes and then the restoration price you could end up with a fairly spanky set of new boots!

Thats the ones, just they are rather heavily curbed around the rims, and the center caps were eroded, (forgot to say that) Would they come up like new? Should i go with a unit based company or a mobile one, wasnt to sure if the latter would be good enough? Im in welwyn garden city near stevenge/st albans.

i paid £40 per wheel for my wifes two front wheels to be done.
although this is east midlands.

i got sick of hearing some of the drastic prices of refurbs and decided to take a risk and spent 2 weeks on refurbing my own wheels:

ther are particular fillers you can get to resolve kurbing issues but its about getting the same colour match of the wheel which can sometimes be a game. Professional refurbishment firms would usually jus remove tyres and strip the wheels all back down to bare metal and start a fresh..filling in any areas required from curbing and flattening surfaces to a smooth agen and then powder coat paint em all over again to give you brand new looking wheels but at significant cost. theyr very good at what they do and if you shop around you'l find the rite one to go to even if it means travelling a short trip...but i like to stick to a particular budget with things..less expenditure is always better but otherwise you could consider the professional finish "money wel spent" :-)

i'd say go for it... you haven't got much to lose... and a professional will do them justice
if you are not experienced in all things alloy wheel refurbishment then i'd just find a reputable refurbisher, there may be one listed in the good guys section, drop em off... sit back and relax for a week... nice cups of tea etc... then pick em up a week later
i had a set of alloys refurb'd once on a previous car and it is well worth it... the powdercoat finish is just superb if you find a good one.
you might need to get new centre caps... that might cost you a bit if you go for shiny new ones... but overall i think you might be onto a winner

Anyone able to recommend a wheel refurbishers in Manchester?
Was given 4 x 17" alloys with tyres when I purchased my new toy in addition to the standard GTi wheels that are already on the car....bargain.
Just a few kerb scuffs on 2 of them.

If they're heavily mucky rather than kerbed try Mr Muscle oven cleaner as a budget fix. It's made quite a difference to mine.

Have look through your yellow pages, should have a couple in there.
If not, if they aren't too kerbed, you could prep them yourself and ring a local powdercoaters.
