Title: Sprint Boosters ?
Post by: bennyboy on 15 November 2007, 12:25
Just found these and thought has anyone got one or know if they help.

Golf 5 Sprint Booster

Most cars in the 21st century have replaced the more conventional throttle cable for an ETC, Electronic Control Module, that translates how hard the pedal is pushed into electronic signals in order to provide power to the wheels. The ETC which is also known as Drive-By-Wire, has the unfortunate downside of delayed response and subdued acceleration, which can create problems in certain situations such as up-hill starts, quick gearchanges and overtaking.

The Sprint Booster aims to overcome this throttle response delay for ETC equipped vehicles, by providing crisp, on-tap acceleration for whenever the driver demands it. It is a device that improves acceleration by continuously measuring and converting the digital signal provided by the ETC potentiometer, and providing the ECM with a new, faster and more response signal.

Stay far, far away from those. If you get one anywhere near your car drive home very quickly and wash it with holy water.

The delay is more to do with the turbo spooling up than any kind of gadget to make your car go faster

i Have seen these at my local tuner, he said it was good for my current car the Leon FR TDi but he advised against it on the new ED30, all it does is enhance/quicken the digital signal sent to the car.

my issue isnt the turbo, in not taling about lots of power, but just power to move off. i push the gas down then let off to a normal amount to get enough power to move.

so, eeer, why do you need a quicker signal again?

I'm sorry but I have never heard such a load of rubbish in all my life. My car has no throttle lag at all, the moment I push the throttle the revs build. It takes absolutely no effort to find the revs to move off. I push the throttle balance the clutch and move away. I can adjust the throttle and hold at whatever RPM I choose with my right foot, no fuss, no lag.
