Title: Alternative reasons for choosing a colour...
Post by: Andy B on 14 November 2007, 23:37
Ok, so colour is a personal thing, but there must be some weird reasons why you went for the colour you did.

(Points awarded for comedy value)

Candy White: I want people to think I'm the police and get out of my way!

Black is actually renowned for showing dirt easily but it looks very good when it's absolutely spangly.

I had originally chosen grey but living in Scotland thought that with the amount of grey days we have that the car might just fade into the background.

Changed it to Black and got the tints and am very happy with it even if it is a b1tch to keep clean

black looks beautiful when the car has been washed, polished and waxed !!!!!!

to get there though it takes 2/3hrs of work and then the car stays beautiful for a 1 or 2 days.
I love the way water just rolls off the car when it rains when the car has been waxed

I chose silver as:-

Didn't want a non-metallic which ruled out flat black, red and white
Last car was Steel grey and wanted a different colour.
Wife doesn't like black and so metallic black went out the window

errr...what's left....oh....silver

Oh...and silver matches the colour my hair is going and I do like colour coding

Was very very very tempted to get a white ED30 as they look great and really turn heads but as I am now a little past my twenties  I thought, and more importantly my missus thought , I would look a bit sad.

So there was no other choice, it had to be black

But Nitro...  :lipsrsealed: at least he should have bought an Escalade  :lipsrsealed:

Reflex silver...Because they are the fastest, and look the best.

United Grey would be a close second as they are only slightly slower.

Seriously though, I just like silver cars. Seem to hide the enevitable stonechips and scratches better.

We need to keep it to ourselves though as we don't want everyone driving the fastest coloured car

Current car - Deep Blue Pearl is the ONLY colour to have on an R32.  It's different, it's exclusive to the R32 and looks damn good - really turns heads.

Next car - Candy White Edition 30 - they don't stand out as being much different to a normal GTI in black IMO (and there are too many black Golfs on the road already), the red is TOO red (need the black like on the normal GTI to break it up a bit), silver is too common - there's just too many silver Golfs on the road, and Steel Grey is a bit bland IMO.  So white it was - it's different, it's trendy at the moment and it stands out so there was no choice really!

silver is too common

SNOB!!!

(Your not Hyacinth Bucket, are you.)

I think you`ll find silver is an exclusive colour.

Exclusive to people with excellent taste.

....My last car was a metallic silver-grey BMW and I really like the Steel Grey GTI but wanted a change. Also, my name is Robin and my 'public' name as a musician is RedRobin. My car forums name is also RedRobin and many people call me "Red" or "RR" for short.

The GTI red is such a great Throbbin' Red - One of the best reds I've seen on a car. I got the VW05 RED plate after ordering the car but before delivery.

Shadow blue metallic - I wanted something different that you don't see too often.

Was a close call with black but thought with the blue it wasn't quite as much 'high maintenance' to keep clean... I got that wrong lol.

My old car is jazz blue, so blue kept it more 'in the family'
