Title: stutters nearing red line in 2nd
Post by: al_bey on 14 November 2007, 18:27
Hi,

I finally got my first Mk3 today. Was meant to get it on monday, so am very happy today. When i floor it in second, as i near the red line, the car starts to stutter a bit, is this some kind of limiter kicking in?

Thanks

Alex

Will post some pics up tommorow of the new car

At what rev range does it stop at?

Im not sure, i have driven it once back from where i bought it. I'm going out for a drive later, so will have a look. It might be me just being nieve and reving it too much. It's is quite a different car to drive from my olf banged out renault clio i have driven since i passed 5months ago!

I will have a look tho.

I've just been out for a drive and the car is no longer doing it. I'm guessing it might have done it just because it was sitting in a garage for a long time. I'm not sure why, but it seems fine now.

Was probably the rev limiter kicking early if it was close to the redline!
If its been sat a while it probably just needed the cobwebs blown out of it!

thread was different, all mine and guys posts have been removed, not sure why but their you go.... the reason the car was doing what it was doing was obviously because he was redlining it to the brink of its life..
and thats the reason its magically back to normal now...

Your full of it kells, and pretty patronising. You may be a golf expert, but i know the difference between reving the sh!t out of it and it stuttering for some reason. So can you stop attacking me in your posts.

firstly i never said i was a golf expert.

secondly, you said it splutters near the red line, it dont take a genius to work out why.

thread might have been modified to hide what was said but i stand by it

stop driving like a chav and it wont do this..it really is as simple as that.

its good advice you should take, as it will save you a hell of a lot of trouble down the line.

No fair play kells. I get what your saying, i don't drive like a chav tho just to let you know and take good care of my cars. Anyway lets forget this thread, i came on this forum to get help and to speak to fellow Mk3'ers! Cheers

Its completely standard at the moment apart from an exhaust, i plan to do the following:

-Lower it 30mm all round (deciding suspension etc at the moment (any suggestions)
-Smoked rear lights
-Angel eye headlights
-New Grill
-Alloys (maybe Lenso KR5's)
-Induction Kit arriving tommorow (Radair)

The body work is in pretty good condition for its age and it has done 93000 miles.

yes - but from the original post it was very easy to take it that Al was thrashing the fcuk out of his motor... and we were genuinely concerned that a lesser experienced driver was not driving is the best way possible and that it might be the cause of the problem...

however... now that we have come to realise that all is well... things are back to normal and that when Al 'floors it in second and it nears the red line' that there is now no stuttering and he is a happy bunny...

as Len said... it probably needed the cobwebs blown out of it... which it sounds like Al would have no trouble doing....

Thats a smart looking motor you've got there Al. My wifes is in dragon green and I've just lowered it with a FK suspension kit, 60mm front and 40mm back. Will try and post some pics for you soon.
