Title: Wheel meet again....
Post by: oggy on 09 November 2007, 09:41
Have purchased some 17 inch TT wheels for the red 16v. They need refurbishing, but I am unsure which route to take

Options include

Bead/grit blast to try and remove the indentations and just polish up to a similar alloy colour finish
Grit blast and paint silver and finish with lacquer
Grit blast and paint black/anthracite/plastikote metallic black and also possibly finish with laquer

I have used the plastikote several times befoe and I am impressed with the finish. The metallic black is not actually black - more like a very dark grey - looks a bit more subtle and could go well with the red car and black trim

Thoughts.......

If they're the same wheels as mine...

I was cleaning them with a foaming cleaner which made them like white. I looked at them and thought having RS4s on the red mk3 GTi in white would look amazing

No - 6 spoke, but I understand your meaning and have thought about it - Then I thought about keeping them clean and the thought evaporated,
