I'm planning on having this done at some point by a pro detailer as they can achieve amazing results with a mop. Have a look on www.detailingworld.co.uk for loads of examples and lists of local suppliers.

If having a go yourself, go very carefully, it is sooooooo easy to screw a cars paint up with a rotary buffer and mop.
Porter cable / Ultimate detailing machine is a better DIY option as it is pretty much impossible to damage your paint with these.
For people in the Cotswolds / Wilts areas I might be able to give up a Sat morning and mop the car, show the difference between the rotary buffer and Porter cable and / or teach the individual how to use them. Costs could be kept down by having the car freshly washed and dried so that all I have to do is the actual polishing?
This link will show you what can be achieved with a some knowledge and a rotary (sorry its not a VW!)
