i have a 1990 gti 8v pb with a tall block fitted and have been under bonnet today and noticed that the top of my afm and rocker breather are makink a imprint on my bonnet sound deadening also the throttle lever appears to be trying to eat its way through the bonnet so was wondering if anyone ahs had same sort of thing with their big block conversion and how did they sort it out cheers
-
I had no issues with the afm, unless you put a different airbox in its the same height as the old one. As for throttle linkage, put a small dent in the bonnet! Cant say I've noticed the breather touching anything?

it does have a k&n fitted so this could have somethind to do with afm fouling also i will try a new front engine mount and dented bonnet any preferences on engine mount cheers

I used a 1.3 bonded rubber jobbie, did the trick. I then upgraded to a BBM motorsport solid mount, didnt notice any real difference apart from slightly more vibration at idle.
-
how long did you use the 1.3 mount before changing to solid mount
also i have read on here that clutch can be a bit fierce with solid mount is it true
cheers

over a year, it was one of the 1st things I changed when I bought the car. I only got the solid one hoping it would solve the jerky on/off throttle at low speeds, but it didn't!

1.3 mount it is then
mine also gets a bit jerky at slow speeds from time to time
