with my car being lowered 40mm i now cant jack it up high enough to change the wheels over
any thoughts how i could do it?
-
I never had this problem but I use a trolly jack.

yep i have a 2tonne trolley jack ... on full extension but the tyre is still on the deck
-
Something sounds a bit wrong there. Even with a lowering kit the suspension shouldn't drop any lower than with standard hieght when jacked up.

oh ...
umm would it be best to wait until i have new tryes and get a garage to fit them ?
thanks
-
just thought ... what if i get a flat and need to change the tyre oh god this could be terrible lol :undecided:

I have to get someone to lift my car up by the wheelarch while i put the jack underneath, but i've never had this problem! Are we talking front, back or both?
-
are you sure you don't just need to top up your jack oil?
-
Scissor jack. That is what I used for my Cobra, and that was on the deck!
-
Had this this problem with my stepsons Clio (way too low and French!) - luckly the original VW emegency jack fitted - I rasied enough on this to get my trolley jack under the sub frame and job was a good'n
-
Simple solution... just roll the car onto 2 blocks of wood per side, lifting the car high enough to get the jack under...

You need a bigger jack!
-
how high is the sill when the jacks up all the way? somethings not right!
-
if i get pics and measurements for you tomorrow will that be ok ?
-
Anyone else found the scissor jack a bit of a death trap?! I use a normal trolley jack and that works absolutely fine. My friends VR lowered 60mm also was ok with it.
-
just approx to see if its lower than when the wheel is supposed to lift, either your jacks f**ked or your suspension is!
-
It could be that the jack arm doesn't go high enough, my mate has one that is pretty damn useless like that, gave me the same problem. I've got a reasonable size one from Halfords now and it's fine.

Scissor jacks are ok if used correctly. No more or less dangerous than the average bottle jack. Just don't rely on it if you intend to get under the car. The same for any jack.

Dont think uve read his problem right....
Anyway as said I think ure jack is fu*ked

thanks for the replies, all sorted now
-
what was the problem?
-
i was using the proper 'jacking up' points but there obviously wasnt enough leverage so i had to jack it from under the sills ? :undecided:
-
Drive the front of the car onto bricks and then try jacking it up
