i have been reading a thread about cleaning the isv and it recomends resseting the ecu after cleaning,my very vague haynes manual doesnt mention it ,is this a good idea and how do you do it?thanks
-
you basically have to set the idle, co etc
There is a guide on here how to do it
-
nealy i cleaned the the isv and the erratic idling got worse ,i have just read that you resset the ecu after ,does that mean unplugging it ?
-
Where have you read that?
You need to go through the setup guide first and see what its like then
-
club gti maintenance sticky, turned the ignition on and it is not buzzing so it is either the isv thats faulty or wiring or ecu if that is what controls it.the car drove 60 miles fine yesterday and now after messing with it i could kick myself.
-
at the end of the thread it suggests resseting the the ecu i took this to mean sort of like rebooting your computer or returning it to factory settings?
-
you dont need to reset the ECU, it has no 'memory' If the isv isn't buzzing its dead or the wiring to it is faulty. Check you get voltage at the plug with the ignition on. Also check out my tuning guide:
