Title: Surface rust patchy
Post by: Mikester on 05 November 2007, 17:58
On my drivers door i have about 6 patches of surface rust, each are about the size of a 50p coin, its very lightly surface, and all but one patch are bellow the bump strip, if i sand it back and prime it, am i better to spray the patches or to spray the whole door? becuase they are spread out im worried it will look bad if i spray patches, its a mk3 dark blue/purple 1997, the rest of the paint work is in excelent condition. Any thoughts or tips would be greatly appriciated, i will post pictures tomo on this thread when its not dark!

thanks

If it was me, I would spray the whole door, mainly so the colour matches. Remember to use anti rust primer first.

My doors have spots of rust, so I've just bought some better doors of a breaker - £20 each. Bish bash bosh.

i was thinkin about gettin a new door, but i really cant be bothered with the hassle, i am going to get a quote of a local body shop that are pretty good. See how much they want to do it, as theres a few other spots i want doing where the last owner couldnt park! lol.
