Title: GOLF GTI C PLATE 257,000 FULL SERVICE BY VAG
Post by: mk2 head on 05 November 2007, 15:10
:smiley:HAPPY WITH GOLF GTI i just won on ebay 257,000 miles and it drives like a dream and handles well. i would say very good condition interior is like new.and no slop in gear change. has had gear kit fitted bushes and arms, starts on the button has the same engine from new.no oil leaks no whare [:)]  alltho the engine does smoke sometimes but nothing to worry about . put it this way if i didnt have a full volkswagon service history with the car and a folder full of paper work from new i would never belive the milage of this 23 year old gti peeps.Well i lied a bit the service history is only up to 247,000 miles[:o] ( cant beliveve there is not 1 spot of welding on it at all[:o] )all stamped by main dealer.so has any1 else here got a vw thats done that sort of mileage peeps. AND SHE GOES LIKE ****E OF A SHOVEL MANUAL INJECTOIN 2
WHAT CAN I SAY ITS VW GOLF WELL DONE THE GERMANS FOR BUILDING THE GOLF [=D>] [=D>] [=D>] [=D>] [:*:]

257k?!
For the smoking a bit it may need stem seals if it smokes intermittently on idle. I think they become a problem at 120k ish. 257k possibly a definate! There are tests to find out what it is.

Would be good to see some pics! Keep up with the vw service history!

Nice one! I hope my car's still running after those sort of miles. Mines on 165K and am expecting to get to around 200k hopefully without too much needing doing.
Stay on top of the maintenance, especially regular oil changes and you will be going strong for a while yet!

Worn rings normally show when you boot it hard and it smokes under acceleration. Mine smoked just as yours did due to 3 of my stem seals being crushed. On a new 20k engine  Get a compression test done, dry and wet tests by a garage and you'll know for sure! £200, cant go wrong! Get your pics out for the lads!
