Yo people
got my Vag.com lead today, and even tho the car is now fixed i thought id still give it a whirl, came up with this as fault code 00518, throttle position sensor 34-10 - no elaberation available- intermittant
what the hell's all that mean
anyone know?
car is running sweet btw

this might help??
00518 P0121 Throttle Position Sensor - Signal Out of Range (G69) Also check for loose ECM
power relay.
and this
Starting in 1996 on OBD-II vehicles, Volkswagen began using an electric throttle control module to control the throttle plate. This throttle control module contains an electric motor that actually moves the throttle plate and two potentiometers that monitor throttle plate position and requested throttle position.
The throttle controller is synchronized to the powertrain control module (PCM) electronically. This matching process allows the PCM to memorize the closed throttle, wide-open throttle and pre-start throttle positions.
If power is lost to the PCM or throttle controller for any reason (disconnecting the battery is the most common reason), the synchronization between the PCM and throttle controller is erased!
This synchronization is known as the "Basic Setting." As hard as it may be to believe, basic settings are stored in volatile memory and are erased whenever power is lost from the PCM or throttle controller.try the disconnect battery for 5 minutes thing first and see if it comes back..

blimey...
thats a mad read, i take it mine dont refere to most of that tho as it is a 1993 year??
do you know why it would come up as a fault on Vag.com, all the relays in the fuse box are secure..
-
try and disconnect the battery for 5 mins to reset car in basic setting mode and scan again... that was on an american site and is possibly only half true about year etc!!
-
will try that and re scan :)
bloody yanks
-
hey kells next time your round my way (with your vag-com)...
give us a bell as mine was last scanned 2 years ago!!

well it did have a code read and new relay's, air mass meter and crank sensor when i bought it may 2006 and has run good since..only fault that did show since was my abs light came on sometimes due to iffy rear calipers (sorted with new discs tho!)
-
Mine is running spot on now too, i am just wondering why the vag.com came up with this...
i have no ABS on my Gti either so i dont have to worry about that thank god haha
ill bring it over with me next time i come and my old laptop which it works with, see what/if any codes come up on yours :)
