You lucky ed30 owners know if there is an end date to the car being available at the moment? Friend is trying to blag one as a company car but it wouldn't get ordered until Jan :)
-
Don't forget to register your ED30 here:-

Could Hurdy place a sticky of the link in maintenance + info?

Set it up as a general sticky as most will not look in the maintenance section

Are the ED30's limited to 1 million units or something

Picked up my 3 Door Silver Ed30 with DSG today :-) Traded in a 4 month old Audi TT, was a bit worried I had made the wrong decision, but I'm pretty sure already that the Golf is the better car for me!
I originally order the Golf about 8 months ago via a broker and the date kept getting put back, so when they had a Audi TT available as a cancelled order I took it. Nice car, but it was povety spec. Lovely car to drive, but a raid pain to get the little one in the back.
I'm really enjoying the DSG box, haven't read the manually yet about running it in, but its very difficult not to take off with the DSG box, it just keeps on going :-)
Enjoy your car when you pick it up.

Just wanted to add to this thread to say that our candy white edition 30 should arrive by the end of January too... just to keep those black and steel grey car people on their toes!

Out of interest, when did you order yours and have you got an exact date? I ordered yesterday and all they could tell me was January, so I'm not sure how long I'll have to wait to get an exact date.
-
You should firstly get a build week, then a confirmation that it has been built, then confirmation that it is awaiting shipping, then confirmation that it has been shipped and only then will you have a chance at getting a delivery date from the dealer :nerd:
-
Cool, thanks for that. The dealer did say that they would contact me towards the end of the month with an update on things.

And with that the long painful wait begins :lipsrsealed:

Just out of curiosity, why do you sell your R32 and replace it by a ED30?

V8X, Have you driven an ED30? You would know why then
Golfgirl explained most of her reasons on this thread, but had most of her advice over on UKMKIV's

Because my R32 is 4 1/2 years old and I have owned it for 3 1/2 years. I've done what I can to it performance-wise without shelling out loads on supercharging it etc. It's time to move on and get something newer.

At least I have Christmas looming to help make the time pass quicker!

Hi golfgirl sorry for missing your post.
We ordered around the middle of October. Like someone said above, we don't have a date - we'll only be able to guess it once they tell us that the car's started to be manufactured.
If they're still estimating January, that makes me think that we'll be getting the car earlier in January than we expected. Still got to find all the cash... anyone know someone who wants a 10 year old pug 306-gti6 with 110,000 on the clock? One careful owner :-)

    :smiley:Oh mines has arrived, sitting at dealers, ye feckin ha!

Update
Picked up the Car today, WOW. The white looks better than I ever imagined, we all have our own colour preferences but I am so glad I went for the white, today it was just gleaming in the autumn sunshine, simply stunning.
I have only done 100 miles today but they have all been brilliant. I came from a Lotus Elise and I am happy to say that I am not dissapointed in anyway. I put her to bed tonight but really didnt want to, cant wait for tomo to come to have the full day with her.

Post some pics when you can....

Nice work Mad Monk.
I have a Candy White 2007 GTi (manual) and think it is the best colour, closely followed by silver and gun metal grey...
Beware though ...Candy White shows up the dirt though more than I expected.
-
Are the ED30's limited to 1 million units or something
Thats what I'm begininning to wonder... :undecided: Maybe VW meant 15,000 and not 1500.
Oh and congratulations Mad Monk and don't forget the pics... white looks
-
congrats , its def worth the wait
-
quick question,
according to the handbook I should have agot a warning triangle and first aid kit in the boot to the left but I have nothing. Did anyone else get this?
-
In South Africa its an optional extra. Not sure about the UK. We didnt take it mainly cos we dont expect the car to breakdown.... (Touch wood) Its not really needed, the only time our GTI ever broke down was because it ran out o coolant and my ma refused to drive it 2 kilometres to our house from the shopping centre
