Use a hot air gun to warm up the decal, peel upwards, gently and slowly.
residue adhesive can be removed with meths or white spirit on a lint free wrag, taking the appropriate safety precautions when using flamable products..
If you want to go down the new decal route, heres the link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MK2-Golf-GTI-One-Piece-Tailgate-Decal-VW-NEW_W0QQitemZ190167200837QQihZ009QQcategoryZ9889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I fitted one to my car, with perfect results
Tom
