Title: another Edition 30 ( in the fastest colour ) touches down
Post by: john_o on 30 October 2007, 16:04
12 weeks after order my Edition 30 arrived today
8 miles on the clock

Proper pics to follow once I 'officially' clean it at the weekend

Ben @ Gilbert Lawton in Manchester was top notch , thoroughly recommended.

First impressions are

1. I no longer worried about getting a black one , i love it .......
2. Its a big car!
3. The paintwork is actually pretty good , little swirling (I did NOT have the lifeshine done) , slightly orange peely imho under close scrutiny but thats just me being picky
4. The car feels soo special with all the little extras
5. It came with the bottle opener and 1 litre of oil (for free after I asked )
6. The wheels look so much better in the flesh , and have grown on me , I always felt they looked a bit 'small'
7. It doesnt have shift! Yes Im running it in 'enthusiastically' , but even on light throttle it goes.....
It feels way faster than a std GTI on the test drive.
Cant feel lag , but then Im not letting it labour at low rpm.
8. I got a noisy one !!!! As posted on here , at idle its noisy lol. Seems the luck of the draw. more so with A/C on
9. the highline comp is a must
10. Michelin tyres so I think I may have been lucky there.

first mod will be a small front number plate from www.fancyplates.com , I made sure the dealer only stuck the plates on (I HATE drilled holes!) , so I hope to replace that soon.

All in all its been worth the wait (dont they all say that ?) , and I'm looking forward to running it in.

Anyone on here get an oil change after 1k as a precaution ? I assume it just goes to the first service? (I chose Time&Dist but plan to specify long life oil)

Stunning car John. Glad to hear you are enjoying it.

I may seem a bit of a loser and perhaps (and most probably am wrong and imagining it) but is she not a bit high? As in wheel gap? Dont want to break the happy mood but would you mind looking under the wheel arches and making sure that they took your spacers out? (Spcers are small rubber strips that are wedged between the suspension for transport). I was looking at pics of Illyuns Ed30 and his seems lower.

Once again. Nice to see you got your car

It looks a bit like a R32 I saw once. The owner still argued with me until I showed him the spacers were still in. There was a thread about it somewhere.

Nice, I like the colour but am too lazy to live with it!

Looks like I should finally pick up my 3Dr Silver DSG next week, I didn't think I was ever going to get it.
I ordered through a broker, and it got delayed so many times in the end I got an Audi TT off of him instead!

Its not arrived at the dealer and I've manage to get a reasonable deal to swap, having had the TT only 4 months,
its a nice car but a little disappointing as I didn't get to spec it and am looking forward to the DSG.  Lets just
hope I've made the right decision!

I may seem a bit of a loser ........

not at all , Im a stickler for detail things too.
I will check at the weekend. Although it isnt too high and I would hope to notice a complete lack of susp travel
but you never know ...........

tbh I thought the ride height was better than I expected. Plus the 18's seem to fill the arches better.
Its def a car that has a completely different look that pictures dont quite capture.

89 miles and counting ........ :-) t/c light flashed tonight on light throttle , so I may check the tyre pressures too !!!

thanks again for all the positive feedback.

would you mind looking under the wheel arches and making sure that they took your spacers out?

did so tonight , and they are not present
However the car has also dropped a bit even in 2 days driving, in fact there isnt exactly a lot of room for a std car!

lots more pics once it gets a full wash.
