i know you've all gone over it loads of times, but i'm considering getting my lovely ed 30 bluefinned. what really is the difference between the different maps from different companys, surely they must be nearly the same. they all seem to have about the same gains and cost about the same money give or take. what seem to be the issue with superchips? they advertise everywhere and have been going for years, they can't be that bad can they? there seems to be a lot of negative feedback on here, can anyone give a good reason why? look forward to hearing your opinions and reasons.

I've had the bluefin on my ED30 for around 5k miles now and I've been very happy with it, some have mentioned that superchips only really increase boost, but there is no real evidence of this so I have no reason to believe or disbelieve this claim.
You get the odd person whos had his/her turbo go, but I'm sure there is always a certain level of risk to the engine/turbo etc. when remapping with any company!
You can get the bluefin on trial basis, return it if your not happy, but of course you going to like it!! :evil:although your never going to know from a week trial if in a years time your going to have issues ... :undecided:

The only thing i don't like about the bluefin is that you get a generic map off the shelf. I have asked superchips if i bought an intercooler and down pipe+ sports cat, could i get a custom map. The answer is yes but @£150 an hour for a minimum of 2hrs rolling road. The good news is, i have been told, that superchips are working a different maps for the ed30. I can only assume these maps will cater for mods such as intake, exhaust etc... as well as differnt fuels. This is merely speculation, all i have been told is that they are going to be developing further maps fairly soon.

i thought all of the remaps just increased the boost level at certain revs, what else can they do? i dont really want to risk a blow up, just how reliable are these remaps? they do seem good value per bhp compared with going down the exhaust, air intake route.

ive never had any problems with 5000miles after remap, never hurd of anything go wrong on this forum and id say about 60% of mk5 gti owners on here have had it done

okay so i have a mk4 1.8T but i had her REVO'd and since have advised 2 of my mates to get it, one had a mk5 gti and my god he cant stop smiling or buying me beers, i dont know what it was before but his is slightly up on mine, i have 210bhp to his 218bhp, and the torq's up around the 240 mark on both, as far as im awaire it basicly de restricts the fuel and air as well as the turbo, the restrictions were put in place to keep insurance's down for owners in the first place and as far as i know REVO say that all settings are still with in the VAG tolarances.... (Audi TT's 1.8 throws out about that)
all this and i have standard filter and exhaust and piss on standard MK5 GTIs which is why my mate rushed out to get his lol, MK5's are fantastic cars all the same and i am saving like mad haha...... keep up the good work.
and revo also do custom tunes for extras like filters exhausts etc etc, all programs are also all revos are car spacific, and id advice shell v power in for max effect lol.

i dont know what it was before but his is slightly up on mine, i have 210bhp to his 218bhp,
218bhp from a remap on a mk5 gti is really not very much!!! who did it, he could go a hell of a lot more higher, 200bhp standard and only an 18hp gain after a remap, ed 30 owners ofter a blue fin are looking at 60-70hp, mine is a mk5 gti standard and i got 58bhp!!

sorry mate your right, i text him there its 258 bhp (rolling road with v-power) with 287 torqes, it was done by revo near Brum.... they are a great company,(no i dont work for them just love the work they do lol)
