Title: mk3 tdi gearbox into a mk3 16v gti
Post by: ross2 on 29 October 2007, 16:03
as above will a mk3 tdi gearbox fit straight onto a mk3 16v gti without any hitches or does it require modified parts to fit.
basically is it a straight swap over and are there any advantages to the tdi gearbox in a 16v?

I can't see there being any problems. My Gearbox code in my TDI is O2A I think and is cable operated. I think that some GTI's come with the same gearbox code as the TDI or so it said in the haines manual. so should be OK

check the box codes (like 02a) and then check the exact type (haynes can tell all) which will tell you if the ratios are different
my old 1.8 had an 020 box and my gti has an 020 but the 1.8 has lower 1st 2nd and 3rd ratios...
