Well, the ride in my car has gone from bad to appauling, with a rediculous amount of scrapage of the poor abused tyres, so it's time for new suspension, yay!
I have pretty much decided on these springs: http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?id=445887 (http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?id=445887), and these shocks: http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?id=643147 (http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?id=643147).
Would this be a good choice? What else do I need? I was thinking I'll need new top mounts at least (where's best to buy these from?).
And am I right in thinking those springs will lower about 10 to 20mm from standard 8v height?
Oh and if anyone knows were I can buy these items cheap let me know
Thanks in advance

Blimey your looking at nearly £500 for that little lot. You'd be better off with something like this:-

Or if budget is a real concern this:

Money isn't too much of a concern, I'm happy to spend around £500, but obviously want the best for that money (but nothing really harsh/uber low - we have lots of crap roads and hills in sheffield!)
-
Well if your budget is that much then you could look at coilovers although I'm not sure what to recomend on that front as I have never bought any.

That combination of eibach's and koni's is exactly what I intended to buy from europerformance at some point next year. It's considered by many to be one of the best combinations retaining ride quality and at the same time achieving a modest amount of lowering. If ride comfort is high up on your list I'd say it's the combination to go for. Coilovers definately give you more control over the exact ride height but tend to give more of a harsh ride.
-
Yea thats the thing that put me off coilovers a bit - the roads round here can be really, really bad so a very harsh ride is out of the question.
I like your avatar

Try Richard at Venom Motorsport, he is cheaper than euro...
I've got the eibachs on cheap shocks and the ride is fab, must be even better on the Konis!
-
the only thing i'm going to add is..... when i worked with a vw tuning bloke for a while i got to drive all manner of set-ups and the best was koni shocks, h&r springs. this was on a corrado vr6. felt like a factory set up until you pushed it into corners when you could feel the 'performance' aspect doing its thang!
-
Will check the price on those h&r springs in that case

I like your avatar
Cheers I thought it had gone un-noticed, well the big man himself hasn't commented anyway!!!
-
awww shame, I'm sure he'll twig soon enough
-
whats your best crap road in sheff
-
as in my fave road? Snake, easy lol. Although I don't know if that counts as Sheffield.
I live near Hilsbrough and there's loads of really steep roads that have massive potholes, lumps and bumps in them
And my car is fooked, while driving along my arms are getting ragged out their sockets trying to keep the bloody thing in a straight line!
-
im in wisewood and agree about roads round here
and we pay our car tax for what
-
I commute into sheffield every day from Hudds, know what you mean about the roads!
anyone got any experince of these kits from ebay?

Can't understand that ad but I wouldn't trust anything that cheap!
Save your pennies and buy something decent
-
they advertise in english too, but buying from the german site means you get them even lower due to the exchange rate!
they are cheap, but other tuners are selling the same kits for £150. I suppose it will all be doen to the ride quality and how they bed in.............
