Standard tyre size on TT wheels is 225/45/17. To fit the Golf, I believe they need to be 205/40/17.
Given that this is 20mm thinner on the width of the tyre, will this mean
1The wheel is proud of the tyre and hence prone to kerbing
-
225's may rub on the rear arch (and the strut??) with tt wheel's ...oh and the speedo will be slighty out!! really should fit 205/40's for correct fit etc
-
I have 215/45/17 on mine and they scrub the rear struts and bad bumps, cant get much lock on the front either as they hit the mudflaps. 205/40s shouldnt cause any problems though
the only good thing about the 215's is like you say, they sit better on the wheel and with rim protector tyres its very difficult to kerb them
-
Only thing I find with mine is that they tend to scuff the arches... look mean tho
-
mine on standard wheels and 205's scrub!!
I do have 8mm spacers fitted tho
-
Mine are 205/40/17 and don't scrub at all, even on full lock, even lowered 60mm at the front! God bless Falken 512 tyres :)
-
.....and also wondering whether the TT wheel takes the 205 tyre. The rim seems pretty wide for it
-
Just fit 225 Falken 512s. Notice the stretch look tyre but without being stretched. Looks cool, fits properly and has enough of a stretch to avoid taking the arches off when you turn the wheel

225s? This surely makes the wheel too big? What is the aspect ratio on these?
-
I meant fit 225 tyres if they're going on the 225 TT rims

My car is on that vid from Sunday, you can see it only just got on the rollers after having to mess around for 10 minutes to get it lined up properly
