I know its not most of you peoples thing, BUT i think it looks MUCH!! better! Thanks to Merlinman for quick postage and guide to fitting :)

Changed the ashtray from the black plastic one to a metal one:

Hi, looks nice, better than the open on in my GTI.

Could you answer 3 short questions please...

1-How much?
2- Where from?
3- does it open enough to allow a charger to be plugged in, such as phone or tomtom?

i bought it off Merlinman (from this forum) I think he said there £75 new from VW.
it just replaced the black plastic cover, so opens exactly the same :)

is the cover black, on the ED30? which model gets a silver/metallic one the R32?

The r32 gets a metal coloured carbon fiber looking one..

the golfs are just black now.. i think someone said they use to do the silver ones awhile back.. price cuts now..

i hate chromie bits,, but few bits here and there look fantastic, makes it stand out inside and looks more quality.
im very happy with it.

Yes the aerial is still on. You can see it, but only just on my "arty" pics :wink:

I think the silver ashtray looks really good, but I would probably try and get hold of a carbon fibre one for mine if I was feeling that way inclined :cool:

nice!, I fitted a 'brushed' silver lid first day I got my ED30! didn't know you could get the silver surround also! might have to source one of them!!

You could just get the cover from Volkswagen, but I think that they stopped doing that part on its own..
