theres a lot more to it than insurance group
MK3 GTI = group 14
MK3 16v = group 16
MK3 vr6 = group 16
yup... the valver and vr6 are in the same group.. but hey i'm 28, and they wanted 500 quid extra for a vr6.
ohh here's the link.. http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/tech_data/index.aspx?range_id=311

Its hard to get insured on anything over a grp 15 when ya under .... either 21 or 25.. i forget which.

I was 23 last year when I got my Mk3 Valver, had no problem getting Fully Comp insurance from Elephant, even with zero no claims. Hopefully it'll drop again next year when I hit 25.
I was a bit annoyed when I found out that the VR6 was the same group, but it still would have cost more to insure.

Elephant quoted me ?1500 for the Mk3 16v TPFT but funnily enough, just a few weeks earlier they wanted ?1750 ??? why the sudden drop? I'm 22 currently with NCB, i still think my premium is abit high but maybe that's to do with living in a high crime rate area.

just got quoted on my 8v again...
