Title: MK3 Door/interior light sensor
Post by: matt_s on 26 October 2007, 09:09: Hey, recently noticed that my interior light is coming on intermittently whilst im driving. Strangely it seems to happen when im making a sharp turn. This becomes incredibly annoying if im driving at night with my headlights on, the sensor thinks my door is open...the interior light comes on and because my headlights are on it gives me the buzz/alarm!!! Im pretty sure its the passenger side door as opening it no longer turns on the interior light.

Where is the sensor located? Has anyone heard of this before?

Post by: jafo on 26 October 2007, 09:12: Im sure the sensor pops out of the b pillar and the door closing pushes it to turn the light off, if no one else replies il go have a look at my car and let you know!

Post by: matt_s on 29 October 2007, 18:56: The problem has now got a whole lot worse. I found the sensor the other night and the passenger side one was definitely broken. Before the interior light came on intermittently whilst driving (sometimes setting the buzzer off if the headlights were on). Well now as soon as i switch the headlights on the buzzer/alarm sounds CONTINUOUSLY!!!!! I obviously need a new switch but does anyone know how i can stop the buzzer from sounding? I have tried removing the broken switch which hasnt worked, i tried removing a couple of fuses to shut the thing up but that hasnt worked either.

Any ideas??

Post by: matt_s on 30 October 2007, 09:02: Its almost like the switch has broken in the open position. No matter what i do to it, it wont close. Nothing i do will stop that damn buzzer!!! Just ordered the switch from VW anyway, picking it up in the morning.

Picked up the switch this morning, fitted it and the problem is still there!!! It was definitely the passenger switch which was broken...i could see it!!

VW said i could book it in for an investigation.....Ã‚£100 BALLS TO THAT!!!

Can anyone suggest what i can do to shut that buzzer up??

Post by: matt_s on 01 November 2007, 10:18: Still hoping someone can help with this. To me it seems like the switch has broken in the 'open' position and is stuck. Does anyone think disconnecting the battery for a while might 'reset' it so to speak? Also is there a fuse for the alarm/buzzer?? Desperately need to shut the thing up.

it sounds to me like there is a wire thats rubbed thru/been squashed and is now earthing to the bodywork!

Atleast i know how to shut that fookin buzzer up now though, thats what was doing my head in the most. So there's actually a fuse with 36 on it, or did you mean a relay no.36?
