Hi Guys
I found this forum months ago and I think it's brill. Looking at all the previous posts from folk has really helped a lot. I was hoping I could help someone out there that is going through the same prob as I did with my R plate AGG engine 2lt 8lv.
My car developed a major fault when you accelerated in any gear approaching 3000 rpm. When it got close to this the car would splutter and start running like a pig. Over a period of a week it felt as if I was driving a 1.1 Nissan Micra with the handbrake on lol. I looked at all the usual this that would cause this fault e.g throttle body, lambda probe, relays, coolant sensor, induction leaks etc, but still had no joy with it. :angry: :angry: :sick:
After this I got a mate to put the car on his vag-com and it came up with an error on the lambda probe. I knew that this must be a wrong result that had come up on the laptop as I had just changed it with a new one from VW. The car was still running the same and it was hell to drive, but there was light at the end of the tunnel for me :grin: :grin: :grin:
I talked to a guy I know that works for a VW dealership and he said have you tried the AMM ( Air Mass Meter ). He said to go on the bay and get one for a couple of quid and if this improves things. Most VW dealerships do a refurbished AMM for under £100. I fitted the one I got from the bay that cost just £15. The car ran not bad but it still wasn't quite right, so I went to my local dealership, handed over £96.75 and the old part (£20 deposit) and got the new AMM the next day.
To say that the car was transformed would be an under statement :cool: :cool: :cool: :cool: :cool:.
It has run better since I changed the AMM and I'm getting a great MPG to boot.
I hope this will help someone out there.

this fault also shows on a code read..... mine had similar fault before i bought it
oh yeah i had to tone down the blue!! my eyes were hurting! :rolleyes:

My 8v has the exact same symptoms but mine also cut out on the road one night 2 weeks ago and wouldnt start for 10 minutes but hasnt done it since maybe i have 2 faults :grin:, im gonna stop at vw in inverness and buy 2 relays and a temp sensor on the way home rom work tomorrow but thanks to this thread i may invest in a airflow meter aswell :wink:

heres my ady but all simos/siemens/hitachi (what ever you want to call it) engines are the same...basically all 8v's since 95
