Can anyone tell me the mounting hole PCD (5 stud) and off set I need on a set of 17" alloys to get them to fit a MKiv?
Help would really be appreciated ;)

Mk 4 golf uses 100 mm PCD 5 stud fixings (same as Audi A3/TT etc). I think the ideal offset you require is between ET38 and ET42 to be similar to OEM wheels.

Chris - Thanks
Does anyone know if Santa Monica Alloys were a VW optional fit extra?

yeah 'santas' were an optional extra wheel from vw, and a very classy nice looking wheel indeed!! and very expensive for genuine vw ones!! although there is some cheaper copy versions available

What are the widest tyres that a standard Mk4 arch will take?
Will 225x45's fit? Would I get any rubbing when on full lock? Or when the car is fully loaded? (Suspension is standard)
Would 215x45 be a better option?
Thanks

ive got 225/45/17's on my evos, there fine no rubbing scuffing etc even on full lock, and mines been lowered 40mm 8)

As Kniterider says, 17" Santa Monicas have been offered as factory options on the mk4 Golf - these were part of the optional sports suspension upgrade that was fitted to recent models.
The standard 18" tyre size for a Golf is 225/40 so you should be Ok with this width on a 17" rim.

Yep. 225/45/17s and 225/40/18s are both fine with no arch-work. Thinking of getting some myself soon (saving up!)
