Asked the local stealer for a quote on the parking distance controllers and they quoted £330....i remember seeing on the Volkswagen site that its £200 for the kit....the dealer then said its an extra £130 for a piece of i dont know what to help mount the "kit"...not to sure what hes on about...does it sound right to any one around here  Around how much should i be expecting to spend??

Why do you need parking sensors? Unless you can park the car yourself seems a bit of a waste of money to me.. :lipsrsealed:
-
Here it is here, £350 to have it fitted by the looks of it (http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/accessories/SearchAccessories.do?range=golf&groupId=183&modelId=0&text=&pager.offset=5)

Parking sensors are extremely useful because it's difficult to see out of the back of the Mk5 Golf. I quickly discovered I needed them as an aftermarket fit. My VW dealer supplied and fitted them for £160 but they could only be black. Coloured ones would have cost twice that!

Personally I think parking sensors look    even though they are probably quite useful

i think they're more useful on a saloon;
when reverse parking i just add around 8 inches to where my rear windscreen is

they're kinda useful but the mirrors are fine
also with the noise they make, it's kinda unclear exactly how close you are
i would say it's better to actually see it on screen
save your money and get some petrol!!!

Uhm yeh.. if you're a woman

You can get a small camera which you wouldn't notice sticking out near the exhaust. I saw a Mk5 that had it fitted in a forum somewhere - can't remember where though.
-
Didn't go for park reverse sensors. I decided in advance to have a rear camera  Much more discrete from the outside and you know where the kerb is everytime, plus no annoying bleeps . Comes on automatically when reverse is selected and even has a nightime mode where it changes to black and white for a clearer view  This one mod I absolutely love.

Thats the one - lol, sorry Hurdy, I'd forgotten it was on your car
It looks like a superb mod - a 'must-do' on my long list of mods... which will begin soon with a remap... and carbon fibre bonnet
-
I think its worth it cause...i dunno it can get a bit annoying at times having to turn around and look back to see how close u are to the other car lol...always good to keep urself lazy lol....Hurdy...is that cam connected to your kenwood HU??
-
Lol. And dont forget that you must never stand behind the car when its in reverse. My mom once almost drove me over
Car was in reverse and I stood directly behind it. And opened the boot. Do you have any idea how loud that bloody beeper is? My me almost had a heart attack.

Yes it does display through the Kenwood HU  it gives a full 7" wideangle view from the back end.
