Last one I promise....
When I get over 70mph it sounds like im in the cockpit of a bi-plane. The wind noise is incredible!
I'm unsure whether it's the seal on the car or whether the door has dropped slightly. Is this a common problem and does anyone know if it's fixable. it's getting quite annoying now so I would appreciate your replies.
Thanks

the heavy doors do drop and can be rehung quite easily (use the search function as someone quite recently ddid a write up on this)... but first check the seals are ok as these could be split etc

Check all your window seals and ensure the glass sits correct in it's place.
Can you hear the noise from a particular section of the car?
The doors do tend to drop on these cars, especially on the 3 doors. You can easily see by looking at how flush and level the lines are against the rest of the car.
You need a special Torx tool to loosen the catch bolts to adjust.

I had that problem and it was the door seal. Changed that and all quiet again!

hey i have a spare door seal if needed....
I keep finding mk3 golf parts everwhere....but now just have random stuff that i cant be assed to ebay :undecided:

Excellent, how much do you want for it mate?
-
where are you based as its the post that'll cost!! unless you want snail mail??

Mine's doing this as well, on the drivers side door, from 80mph and above, (sorry 65mph!!!!).
The door pins are clicking as well, so I guess I need to re-hang the door then? (3 door model).
What tool do I need, better to get a garage to do it?
-
Mine is missing the plastic strip on the passenger door because of a dent, so i have loads of the small holes, so i get this loud wind noise over 60. Might check the seals too though. As it is loud for sure.

my drivers door is giving me wind noise at higher speeds now!! i will have a look at rehanging the door and see what happens
-
I think my door has dropped slightly as i can hear the air getting through the top at about 80mph.
(96 'P' - 3 door)
The hinges dont look like they have dropped but there is a bit of 'vertical' movement in the door and it doesnt close cleanly.
There is a small bolt which goes through the middle of each hinge, do you think this can adjust the door?

I'm still having this problem and it sounds similar to yours BobbyT. I've got a severe wind noise at 80mph+ and it's a 96P. The doors also have vertical movement.
I'm kind of lost on this one as I don't know if the door is hanging wrongly or if I need to replace the seals. Should I replace the seals anyway and see if that sorts it, then if it's still there should I re-hang the doors? That sounds logical to me but I'd appreciate your advice fellas.
Thanks in advance.

i get wind noise coming from my passenger door, the door doesnt drop at all ,it sounds like the seal, but to me the seal looks fine,
its weird cos my drivers door drops quite alot and i dont get any wind noise from it
