Hello all.
My GTI was imported from somewhere in Scandinavia, and as a result the lights are programmed to be on all of the time. I would like to get this changed to UK spec (ie off during the day and when you flick the switch to off!) but my local garage doesnt seem too interested in helping out. I was wondering if anyone has had this conversion done, and if so which garage they used. Any help will be much appreciated!
Thanks

couldnt that be sorted by updating the ECU because i think the light setting are in the ECU

Any VW dealer can do this - simple job to reprogramme the unit to UK spec as opposed to European daytime running lights. Then again, if you bought the car from an the importer, take it back to them - some forum members have had this issue previously and the importer has paid for a UK dealer to do the reprogramming. You bought a car to UK spec didn't you

I had this on mine, from Motorpoint. I took it into my local stealer, Northgates of Bury St Edmunds, and they plugged in a laptop, switched them off and relieved me of £25. Still, they were very helpful while they fleeced me!
Oh, and you cant do it through the highline computer menus as some people have suggested elsewhere, you need the VW diagnostics software to switch them off, think they're called Daytime Running Lights (DRL's) if you need to explain to your dealer.

what's the problem of having the lights on all the time? Mine are on all the time.

My lights are on all the time, wonder why that is.

The problem is that we are driving a VW not a bloody Volvo!
