Hi All,
Well I've gone and done it, had my standard MkV for 4 weeks now and decided to GIAC it at Regal. My initial thoughts are it's Awesome!....Totally transformed the car and it's become the vehicle I've been striving for. Just a great all rounder, makes me smile every time I drive it and I can get the kids in the back  It may have saved me 11k as I was contemplating a 4.2 S4 as 300 bhp was my minimum requirement, however the MkV and the GIAC complemented by the lower weight have completely satisfied all my motoring urges...would be completely happy to recommend to any other customer, Regal are friendly and informative. I'll keep you all updated if there are any reliability issues. The car is so much more drivable in traffic, it is my view that the DSG in Drive mode was a little under torqued and made pulling out of junctions not as stress free as it should be the GIAC has completly resolved this issue. Sport mode is a bit aggressive for the school run!
If your considering re-mapping your ecu GIAC is well woth a look.

If your nice Chris may even offer you a discount!
I do not have any affiliation with Regal if you were wondering.
The kids now won't be able to eat until the end of the month so food parcels would be very much appreciated

You'll need to change your sig now
The GIAC GTI has just won the VW racing series :nerd:

I was in a Seat Leon MK2 on sunday @ Crail 1/4 mile and it had been fitted with GIAC flasher with 3 programs, took the car upto 309bhp
it was very impressive, change maps on the move, valley mode for winter driving he can get 360miles out of a tank, so would almost pay for itself, doesnt increase the cars flash counter either, its got my vote for when i get my ED30.
-
i must drive like a pensioner, i get between 355/370 to a tank with my superchiped ED30. and thats mainly town driving.

Did the Seat run the 1/4 mile and if so what time did it achieve please?

How much was it.

the guys had 2 there a standard one and a mapped, both were 1st time in them there,
standard mk2 = 14.314 @ 101.1mph.
mapped = 14.220 @ 102.0 mph
the mapped should make 14 you would think, for all the puirists crail isn't fia approved.

I was initially hugely impressed by the sound of this conversion.
The 3 program set up, map change on the move, no increase in flash count and Merlin's subjective assesment made GIAC appear a fantastic choice.
Then K4ith quoted the Crail 1/4 mile times!!!!!
Now I know that 1/4 mile measurements are not the most flattering figurative assessment of a highly tuned front wheel drive car but even so an improvement of only 9/100ths of a second and 0.9mph over standard do not make very tempting reading.
Why was there such a small improvement??

were in the progress of figuring it out , could be response times, but the runs i gave here were the same driver in both cars at dif times.
we were hoping for better

I would have thought a standing quarter of 13.6 - 13.8 would be and easy ask for a remapped MKII Cupra with over 300bhp :undecided:
60bhp extra and only 0.09 secs off .....was the driver of the remapped Leon asleep?

What sort of power and torque gains are they estimating?
I am looking at buying a map for my standard GTI at the moment. Hard to narrow down to a final selection though. Bluefin, Revo APR or GIAC.
I have had many previous cars remapped by various tuners, really looking for quite a reasonably aggressive map with lots of kick/boost.
Any suggestions or help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris.

the best gains mate are from the revo map, dont forget with respect the GTI turbo is tiny so dont expect 2 much, the best chip out their by far is the morego chip for the standard GTI ko3 turbo.

.... So which are you saying is best in your opinion - Revo or Morego?

I am guessing but do the gains from the Revo come from higher peak boost levels? what makes the morego a better option? more drivable or more usable torque curve maybe? I am guessing you have tried both?
thanks for comments though.

....I have only experienced the Revo (Stage1) but can report that power delivery is both strong and smooth through all the gears but obviously tailing off at 120 mph plus (various autobahn storming sessions). It's completely driveable and torque is still very effective throughout in D-mode of DSG.

Still GIAC for me - if your looking for a map that you can live with on a daily basis. Do not be fooled by all out racing maps..... nightmare in traffic.......

....Stage1 Revo isn't a "racing map" - It's totally practical in traffic. I've also driven Ray West's road&track 270 bhp GTI on the road and that's totally practical too. Also have driven other high power GTI's. The key to driving any performance car is to have a sensitive right foot and be focussed (which you should always do in every vehicle you drive).
Those who remap their car's ECU 'brain' would also (more importantly) benefit from remapping their brain with a few one-to-one high performance driving courses such as CarLimits and Drivetrain.
