Title: What size of speakers do i buy?

Hi,

Im upgrading my soundsystem but ive never done anything like this before.. basically im buying new front and back speakers and a sub, but i dont know what size of speakers i get for the front and back.. ive seen ones i like but the come in 6.5 and 5.25  :huh: whats ones can i buy that will fit right into my door cards?

i believe you want 6.5 in the doors

i have some awesome brand new rainbows for sale too if you want some real quality speakers...hehehe

6.5 in the back and front.. really URGENTLY need to know if this is correct.. can some1 please confirm?

Hasn't the MKIV got mids AND tweeters in the front and back. I thought most MKIV's had 8 speaker systems? :undecided:

ther mk 3, and 4 both have speakers in doors and tweets seperate

i put some in my mk 4 and mk 3 gti's both were 6.5

You will need 6.5 comps in the front.  Don't bother with rears (my personal opinion), or leave them standard.  The type/size of sub depends upon your musical tastes.

iv got vibe slick 60s (6.5")in the front with vibe se series tweets and standard at the back all connected to an amp. imo id just do the front as the speakers in the bac are slightly covered by the seats and would be likly to blow. also the standard speakers have a pod that they sit in rivited to the door, i took it out and modded it to fit my speakers so u have a big job ahead  :sad:

as for the sub,as said it depends on ur taste and how much bass u want. always get a good amd and wireing kit as this will bring the sub power to its full potential  :cool:

well i have a Focal sub, cost 350 notes but sheer awesome, although its back in the house at the mo until the Clifford is fitted so im just using a rockford punch i have as a spare, thats wicked too

got focal speakers in the front and they are awesome, but also got a set of Rainbow comps worth 400 quid so i may put them in, i love the focals tho and they match my sub...will prob put the rainbows in my other car... decisions decisions :laugh:

left rear speakers as standard but think i may change the tweets for something better as they play a big part

One last thing though.. because my car is only a 1.4 i dont have speakers in the back  :sad:... when im changing my fronts to compnentts could i put the standard front speakers in the back?
