Well i've found this VR6 on ebay and it was looking alright til I found one picture which looks like overspray in one of the wheel arches, surley not there's nothing down on the spec but it doesn't look like rust :undecided:. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Volkswagen-Golf-VR6-MK3-89K-WITH-LEATHER_W0QQitemZ250176724518QQihZ015QQcategoryZ9873QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It's the 2nd but last picture. Is this a case of how not to advertise.
-
Shouldnt it have arch liners? :undecided:
-
nice car but looks lke its had paint..
also,
look at front splitter, one side faded one side not, could have been due to just loosing one side under normal circumstances but also could be coz its had a bump..?
wouldnt mind if it had personally if its been fixed right but its just overspray.... i cant live with it and theirs no need for it, lazy and rushed repair work.
i always look under cars too for this as its a good place to spot overspray...

I love these early VR's my dad had one in grey. He had twin lights, lowered, modified throttle body and a superchip. Funny thing was my dad was in his 50's at the time, had a full beard and smoked a pipe. He was always getting funny looks from the boy racer crowd and then creamed them at the lights. When he sold it 6 years ago it had covered nearly 300,000 miles but was still going strong (He's a sales rep so it was 75% motorway miles).

Well i'm still looking and am not in a hurry to buy one so can be fussy.
-
Looks good to me, defo had paint but to be honest you'd be hard pushed not to find a car of that age that hasnt had somethin done to it!
-
Its not a cheap one for that price.... i have seen better recently for sale on here.... and yeah most cars will have some paint at that age but over spray means crappy job done
-
should have arch liners as Len says
says to me they have been taken off for filling / spraying
I would avoid at all costs, crappy colour as well IMO

do they have liners on the back???
iv never seen any mk 3 with liners on the back
-
crazy price
-
That's too overpriced, with petrol prices rising VR's are falling in price big time. Be patient and you'll find a better one...

Arch liners on the front, not on the back me thinks.......

I'm still looking have seen this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230182946053&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=013 but since I last looked at it has toppled the the 2k mark.
-
That is a mint example.. will fetch quite abit of money i reckon!! If your after a VR you'll either need a good wedge of money or alot of patience! Worth it tho when your hear in the roar from the beast
-
That looks a lovely example. I'm quite jealous of the shine he's managed to get off the black paintwork. Interesting (or not ) to see a gti front spoiler instead of a VR6 version.
I used to have an old 325i Sport and then drove a friends VR6. Thought the VR was a bit woolley compared to the BM, but having said that I still want one. The sound a VR makes is simply awesome in my opinion. Heard an old K plated VR leave the local garage the other day, it was fitted with a Scorpion DTM. Bloody hell I nearly wet myself
If you can live with the fuel consumption then go for it mate. Only live once!
-
I'm just quite jealous of anyone with a VR6
-
I do like that VR,
also mine's a R reg and had the smaller splitter fitted.
Soon sorted that out & fitted a deep chin
-
I stand corrected.............thought they all had deep front chinnies.

god it's lush.... tempted to go for it myself - does it belong to someone on here?

Always felt a bit heavy on the front (coz of the big lump over the wheels). I could live with that, but not the mpg.....
Next car will be back to the mk2, G60 I think, love em....
-
yeah mine was bad felt like a tenner vanished, drunk it quicker than a alcoholic
but wasnt to bad driven sensibly
-
you should see th economy on the alfa v6 and the pug 406 v6 a lot worse than these, known people with them

try a jap!! my mates scooby averages 18mpg on a good(steady) run!!
-
My mate had an old XJS V12. Lucky to get it into double figures the he drove it.
-
ha, the smoothest engine ever though
-
I'm not too fussed with the fuel consumption I either walk or cycle to work so the car is for the weekends.
-
I've found another one on autotrader v.cheap but no service history just old mot's, I know that really service history is a bit of must with the VR6 but £1500 http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/VOLKSWAGEN+GOLF/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146,N-19-4294961546-4294966861-4294966995-4294967159/search.action?postcode=ME16+8UH&radius=1500&showMoreOptions= Its the first one up.
-
Sorry the 2nd one for dead on £1500.
-
Well 1st of all HPI it, theres just enough to get the full reg from the pics,
If that comes up clear then go and view it, as for £1500 with full leather - Not bad price at all
But is 102k true miles ? that would be my only concern.
