Has anyone experience of a Revo or Bluefin remap for their Ed 30 GTI? If so what are your thoughts. Also, can the DSG box handle the extra torque? I presume the reason DSG is not offered on the S3 is for that reason.

There is a person here with bluefined Ed30, don't remember the name.
DSG can handle maximum 400Nm. Oettinger limits remapped engine with DSG ti 350Nm. B&B offers full 400Nm. Don't know about Superchips.
-
i have a bluefin superchip remap, its very smooth, its not 310bhp though like advertised my car was on the rollers at minisport saturday it made 294bhp, but then it is 5 weeks old the torque wasnt as high either, 274lb/ft. power delivery is very liniar much faster than standard 4000 revs upwards, well worth it, te revo remap will give you more bhp and torque, but im happy with the bluefin.
-
294 sounds good to me. How does the car get the power down? Are you fighting the wheel in the low gears?
-
no not at all, it handles it very well to be honest, its easier to drive slowly also i know that sounds silly but because of the torque increase its incredibly easy to drive feather the throttle and change up early it eats it up cheers stan, put your foot down at 80mph and you can do nothing but smile.

In order to contain 300bhp the Bluefin power curve is very similar low down the rev range to standard ED 30, really comes into its own higher up as Stan said.

That's perfect just got to find a car now. Have seen brand new an EU import 4 door (full UK spec) for £20500. Tempted.
My only worry is when the MK6 is out. Do you know when this will be avalible in the UK?
-
I was thinking of only changing the exhaust on the ED30 (Milteck one out soon) but after reading the comments on here, not just about speed but overall better driveability, I've started doing some homework :nerd: I was thinking of checking with my VW dealer about warranty etc, insurance will go up (anyone like share how much extra they have paid?) also, I've been looking at Revo or Oettinger both seem decent one's. Anyone heard of/used ADS Preston? They are Revo agents and are only an hour away from me. Thanks
-
My tyres in standard spec are nearly worn oot in 7K - Feck knows what they'd do with 300 ponies!!!!!
Me - keepin mine standard - like the warranty - once warranty gone - car for sale for another warranty jobbie...... It's called peace of mind esp. when all the other toys have no warranty - it's useful to have at least one sensible side - The Golf? Yes sensible!
-
There is another (albeit more expensive ) way of getting the extra ponies. A full Milltek system with the carbonio ram air system and the Forge DV would come in at around £1,600 fitted. With the reports I have been hearing you can expect around 25-30bhp on top of the 244bhp on a rolling road. The guy on MKIV's got 262bhp on the rolling road with just the Milltek system on his ED30. This set up would surely give you a better response on the throttle than a simple remap and would also mean that the engine at least keeps it's warranty.
Then again, have the remap as well and see down the nose of 330bhp+
-
why would the forge dv valve make any difference to power??
i thought it was just a replacment that was stronger material? :undecided:

No it wouldn't, but it is supposed to give a slightly better response and is known to be more resilient than the standard VW DV.
Carbonio is touted as 9bhp increase and the Milltek a proven 18bhp increase on a rolling road.
-
Yeah, I think adding the Milteck first will make more sense, the gains do seem very good and IF i re-map I will get more from it by having the Milteck already fitted. Just waiting on Milteck calling me when the system is ready :smug:

I wouldn't hold your breath!
I've e-mailed them three times in the last two weeks and still haven't had any response from them. Still no sign of the system on the Milltek site either
-
this is on an ed30?? what would it be around on a standard gti?
around 12-15bhp?? miltek
5-7bhp carbonio??
just an estimate, also would the carbonio be different for ed30 and gti or are they the same intake standard?? i think there about £150 from awesome £350 for miltek and £150 for DV valve, so £650 not too bad eh

MKiV is out in 2009! And I wonder if GTI will be released right away.

The FULL system on the standard GTI is around £950. This includes the downpipe, high flow sports cat (where most of the bhp gain is) and the catback section. So you are looking at £1,450

I emailed them, got no reply  Called them, left my details and they said I should hear something in a couple of weeks....nothing yet though. The guy on MKv's posted some pics, it looks superb :nerd:

proven by whom, where, on what car?
Also, one can buy Oettinger turpo outlet for about 200 euro - 3-4 more ponies and 15-20Nm more torques.
-
Carbonio intake is same for both the GTI and THE GTI :smug:
I question 9hp increase in power, though. RedRobin has it on his red GTI, and he said he did not notice any increase in power.
