ok well my car keeps almost stalling when i accelerate (mainly 2nd/3rd gear) hard usually around 4k but it is only for a split second but it is quite an agressive jolt.
no oil light coming on but i replaced the relay anyway and it has made no difference.
so what would be the next thing to check
-
fuel pump and ecu relays
-
Need more info mate. Which model and what modifications?
-
its a `95 2.0 gti 8v
no mods to engine etc
changed the ecu relay already but that made no difference and just waiting to get the fuel pump relay.
as long as i dont rev hard to around 3.8-4k then it tend not to do it.
happens when hot or cold .
-
my 95 mk3 had the same symptyoms but i replaced both relays at once so don't know which it was.
It's also probably worth cleaning out your throttle body.
-
When was the last time it had a full service? HT leads, spark plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm?
Try the fuel pump relay first. Try cleaning the throttle body and ISV (if the 8v has one) after
-
throttle body etc was cleaned recently but will go and pick up the other relay on monday and see if that cures it.
prob could do with new plugs etc so that would be next on the list :D
-
well i replaced the fuel pump relay and so far seems ok
only thing was i went to vw and apparently i shouldnt have a relay on my car but when we checked the fuse box it was there so replaced it.

Good stuff :)

will be nice to be sorted now to work through the 1001 other problems
-
That's the kind of annoying problem that puts GTI's in the breakers yards these days. Another one saved as far as i'm concerned :)
-
unfortunatly mine wll be going there next year as its just being too costly to keep together :(

Find soluetions to problems on here and save yourself a fortune..
-
have been doing but high mileage has taken its toll :(
ended up with a £700 bill for gearbox blowing up then another £700 for all the mot work :( + all the bits i have done myself.
another problem is living in the southwest means i do a lot of show miles each year as we go to at least 1 national show a month for most of the year + a lot of travelling to promote my local show :(
will be a shame to see the car go but lack of power and running costs have jsut ruined it for me.
