Title: Stock stereo, turn-on lead question.
Post by: Madmax on 12 October 2007, 22:16
Hi,

Need to connect the blue turn-on lead to somewhere to trigger it to turn on/off with the engine, stock stereo's don't
come with one so where's the next best place?

Thanks.

Do you mean the remote switch on for an amp or electric aerial?  What car is it?

Hi,

The blue wire on the stereo, which doesn't come on stock head units i've heard.
It's for a Golf Mk4.

if you want a remote feed, for an amp. from a manufacturer HU whack the blue wire from the amp onto the switched live to the HU, this will be the red or yellow wire at the back of the HU, try both.

if you get the wrong one the amp will stay on constantly, so use the other one and it should be sound!

so let me understand...your tryin to hook up an amp to a factory fitted radio???
i would advise to use a multimeter to check an output feed from the headunit when it is on. find all the power supplies (11-12volt readings) chek them all when the radio is on and running....then turn the radio off from the radio only (NOT from the ignition) and power supply that you have lost from any of the ones you will have chekd is the wire u want to patch you blue remote lead to:-)
