Title: Suspension
Post by: burgers22 on 11 October 2007, 20:32
Hi

I am looking at suspension options, I've read a bit on here and I'm not so interested in lowering the car, more in handling and ride, Koni's look to be the best but what other options should I consider?
Anyone used these Ebay shocks (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK2-GERMAN-SPORTS-SUSPENSION-KIT-35mm-gti-etc_W0QQitemZ320167489791QQihZ011QQcategoryZ9889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

I'd steer clear of those eBay kits if you can stretch your budget a bit higher. If you're not fussed about lowering then just get some uprated shocks and keep your existing springs. Koni's are good on a MKII (Well they were when I ran some back in the late 90's.).

You would be pleasantly suprised at just how well the car will handle with new oem suspension parts but get the suspension properly setup afterwards, for bushes and ball joints/track rod ends i would buy genuine, may cost a little more but they do last a lot longer

Good advice, thanks chaps. Are the OEM shocks re branded items? I notice AVS supply Sachs shocks at a fair price. I'll deffinatly go for getting the alignment set up properly as well.

Theres a cheapish set of eibach springs on ebay at the mo. Combo them with boge turbos seems to be a good set up.
