Title: Campaign values?
Post by: Mart8V on 08 October 2007, 16:15
Colleague at work has a Mk1 Campaign that he is looking to sell.  Is a non-runner as has sand in the internals somewhere, and apparently there is some rust on the sills as well.  Still has the P-slots etc but has not run for a fair few years.  Mileage is low for age, but not sure of exact figure.

I am considering taking it on as a project to replace my old Mk2, but have very little idea as to what is a reasonable price for this.

Any guidance would be much appreciated!!

if its not a runner with bad body work i wouldnt pay much, depends how bad she is! sounds like you would have to chuck some cash at it!

Need to get over to it for a good butcher's, really.  Have all sorts of ideas re conversion to 16v or equiv for power gains but if there's body work involved I'm a little strapped for time and talent!!

Any advances on Horney's £200?!

mart, your gonna be better off having a looksee on the mk1 forum..as with any car its basically weighing up the pros and cons and deciding for yourself how much your willing to pay for it and how much its going to cost you to get to the standard you want..
Also..I know hes a colleague but id double check it is deffo a campaign - chassis number should be ew or dw with a number greater than 448319 - i find thats the most straight forward way of checking if it is def one or not

Thanks, Dinx.  Am hoping to check it out this weekend so will go over chassis number etc.  Having had successive Mk2s I'm OK on the mechanicals (have done all my own work for last 3 yrs) but not sure about body work etc.

AS you say, also want to check it is the real thing.  Thanks for the tip!

Oh well good mechanics is all ways handy..
best places to check...erm..
if you can, around the windscreen, under the plastic covers that may be on each side of the windscreen, arches, back panel, sills...just typical places chuck

this is a good site. tells you what to look out for and runs a register of all mark 1s as well as campaigns and cabrioloets.  i always look for the green tinted windows as i can never remember whether its 8 or 9 slots in the wheels

they will probably be a bit more biased towards a higher price

any car is valued at what someone is willing to pay for it.  i had a lad keep knocking on my door trying to buy a scrapheap mark 1 on my driveway. i took 500 just to get rid of him and it didnt even have an engine in it
