Has anyone had an engine from these guy's ??? "The Engine Shop" (part of BigBoy's Toys)
Thinking of maybe a 1900cc 16v Big Bore but it's £1700 !!!
Whats the 1800cc Turbo 20v engine like ??? maybe a better bet at £1295
I'd like a 1.8 20v Power Plus but at £2995 it's a bit over budget
I'd better get saving

Humm I'm confused is that 20v engine the normal MKIV 20v engine or some wierd MKII and MKIV hybrid? I've never seen these engines out of the car so I don't know the differences between the blocks.
From the looks of it that 20v engine is just a tuned up replacement for a MKIV and would need loads of work to get it into a MKII. Or am I wrong?

£1295 for that will literally be just the block and head, no wiring, manifolds, or most expensively, turbo.

That's what I thought, not as cheap as it would appear. However their prices are reasonably good for recon stuff and they do build engines to spec so I'm pretty sure they could do a 2.0 bottom end with 1.8 Digi head both fully recon'd and assembled for quite a good price. All you'd need to do is whack on the ancillaries, bolt it to the box and off you go! Would be ideal for me but I don't have any money :-(

I'm not too sure, they fit it for another £296 (mk2) so it must come with the bits and pieces ??? :undecided:
-
Hope u don't mind me butting in but i wouldnt mind giving a 2.1 a try
-
I've emailed "the engine shop" today to see what the price includes and exactly what they do.
Hopefully i can start saving for one soon
I'll let anyone who's interested as soon as i know anything
-
Those prices are swap out of a same existing unit. So the 20v cost is a trade on you providing a dead 20v. They are no way the price of putting a 20v in a mk2!!!

I got the 1.9 8v and it's the only thing left working on my Golf after I crashed it and bent the chass. It pulls well and I have had it off the clock (private road) and it still pulled so thats well over 120 MPH. I wish I had gone for the 2.0 16V it's meant to go like a train.
The guy who builds them is a top bloke as well that helps. If your going to drive your car over there make sure you have someone taking you home it's in the middle of marshes if I remember correctly.
Mines about to come out and sit in the garage until I can afford to put it back in another golf and create a track car, tempted to bolt a set of webbers 45s on it as well............thats if my wedding dosen't go ahead next year......hmmmmm
-
they wont build u 2.ol 8v, the best they can do is the 1.9v 8v at 1300 quid...
ive mailed them again to see if they will sell bottom end refurbed on there own, havent had a reply yet....

I still ain't had a reply from 2 weeks ago !
