Title: Sat Nav
Post by: DannyBoyR32 on 07 October 2007, 14:46
Does anybody know how to just type a street name into Sat Nav on the Golf?

I know I should read the manual but I am useless with technology!

As far as I am aware it only accepts a postcode and then allows you to find the street name.

Can anyone help.........?

P.s Photos attached below, they're the dealer photos as I've not gotten around to take my own and it's a bit dirty!!!!!

Correct.

2007 DVD Sat Nav allows only partial postcode search - first 4 letters/numbers only

And yes you should read the manual

will do

i think mine somehow only accepts postcodes but i'll have a go with typing in the city

i've seen somewhere on here that you can watch dvd's through it as well if you buy a cable of some description

what is that cable?

The sat nav does allow entering of partial postcodes, whether the CD-ROM version or the DVD. To use it you just start entering the postcode under the "town" option. For example, it would let you enter CV23_0 but not the last two letters. Then the streets in that immediate area are displayed for you to choose either by scrolling or by entering the name under "street".

It would of course be better if you could enter an entire postcode, like the handheld units which are a tenth of the price!

no way, is that true

i watched "a few good men" once on a tv on a bmw

when it got to the bit "you can't handle the truth", i had to pull into a service station!!!

is it an option to get a tv fitted through that dvd system? why is it not an option? it's surely handy if you're in traffic   or away from home, not near a tv and need to watch something such as rugby or football this weekend as i will be!!!
