Just had a call from my dealer and been told that my ED30 is built and is now awaiting shipment from Germany to the UK!!
The waiting is almost over and I can feel a tingle up my spine at the thought of getting my grubby mits on my car after placing the order in late June
-
So any time given yet on when you do get your mitts on it?
-
    sweet

He said that it would either be on the ferry this Monday or Thursday and then he expected in Edinburgh for either late next week or early the week after.
He is calling me on Monday to arrange for me to come in and do the paperwork and give me an exact date for collection.

Dont forget the pics

Aye that will be the second thing I will be doing once I have run out of petrol from driving around and around till the wife wants to knock the grin off my face   :smug:

Just out of interest what build date did you have?
-
Was never really given a build date as such. Ordered it on June the 20th and was told that I would get it around the middle of October. For some reason build week 38 jumps into my head but I may be wrong with that.
Pretty much happy with all I was told by the dealer and he was always realistic with me about delivery times so as not to buuld my hopes up.
To be honest I have tried my best to put it to the back of mind till now as I would have been chomping at the bit to get hold of it otherwise
So all in all if I get it a week on Wednesday it will have been 18 weeks from order to delivery.
-
ooooooh , so jealous
I know its discussed quite a bit but Im interested to know too.
Ordered late July (about a month after you) , and still no built date from dealer.
Nov delivery was stated.
really worried it might never get here! they say the waits a killer , and by crikey it is.
UPDATE : While Im typing this , dealer phoned me back .... built date w/b 15thOct , est deilvery 3 weeks later

another black ed30 to be born
-
Glad to here you got a date
I never really heard much from my dealer in the first three months and all of a sudden he has called me three times now with updates - everything seems to move really fast in the last month before you get it. From the call to tell me that it was being built to the call today to tell me it has been built was just over a week so now it really is just up to the logistics people to get it over here
-
i'd be half tempted to get a cheap flight out to the factory and drive the car home
will help take the sting out of running the engine in

Dealer has just called again today to say my ED30 is in the UK and he can have it to me by the weekend
Annoying thing is I am away to Glasgow this weeekend to watch the Scotland game so I have told him early next week will be fine - so with any luck I will have pics up by this time next week
So what are the recommendations for run in? My dealer has said he doesn't believe in run-ins but again it is not his car!!! What do you guys think?
-
theres a link sumwhere on here that TT made. follow that. it like dont take it over 3000rpm for the first 1000miles and let the engine heat up before you set off, enjoy the car. ive had my gti about 2 months and am lookin for an ed30 hahaha
-
you will love it when it comes . i have had mine a week now and done 800miles and the engine is starting to loosen up and i did not rev it over 4k for the first 600miles ish but gave it a few blips in 3rd to about 5k once a day just so its not always below 4k. it does pull very well
-
Beautiful looking car mate ^^^^^^^^
Cannae wait to get hold of mine now

Running in instructions are in the manual. Go time/distance for servicing and avoid the longlife option - dealer will programme this for you.

soooo many black ed 30's being born!!, getting too many!!
Can there be to many????
Seriously though I have changed my mind on the colour soooo many times
Red lovely , highlights black bits nicely
Dark Silver , as above , always look clean , but had a few cars in dark silver
Black , awesome when clean , GTI features somewhat hidden.
even white , which is the current 'in' colour
every time I see a colour , Im nearly on my way to get the dealer to change my colour choice!
in the end , all look great , and I'll stick with black as Ive never had a black car

running a car in , up and down the motorway isnt always the best way anyway
